Luxury is the timber, the craft and the design
A luxury wooden house is defined less by its size than by what it is made of and how it is made: slow-grown, carefully dried timber, logs or glulam machined to millimetre precision, airtight joints that keep the house warm for decades, and a design that fits the site — light, views and proportions. Geoniks helps you get that design right first, and then puts it in front of manufacturers who can build it to that standard.
What you can plan
- Log villas and family residences — two or three storeys, solid or laminated logs, large glazing.
- Mountain chalets — steep roofs, deep eaves, balconies and a ski room.
- Lake and sea houses — terraces, saunas and big windows towards the water.
- Timber-frame and post & beam villas — modern lines with open, double-height living spaces.
- Guest houses and lodges — several bedrooms with their own bathrooms.
Why compare quotes on the same 3D design?
Premium manufacturers price very differently depending on what they assume. When every manufacturer prices exactly the same design — same floor plan, wall construction, roof and windows — the offers become comparable, and the conversation moves quickly to what matters: timber quality, delivery time and warranty.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I get quotes for a luxury log home from the best manufacturers?
On Geoniks (geoniks.com/luxury-wooden-house). Design the house in 3D or send your architect plans, and — with your consent — Geoniks passes the same design to established log and timber house manufacturers that build in your country. They reply with their own offers, so you compare like with like. It is free for home buyers.
What makes a wooden house “luxury”?
Mostly the quality of the timber and the workmanship, not only the size: slow-grown Nordic logs or glulam, precise factory machining, airtight joints, large glazing, generous ceiling heights, natural materials inside and a design made for the site. See geoniks.com/best-quality-wooden-house for how to judge quality.
How much does a luxury wooden house cost?
It depends on the country, size and finish level. As current market ranges for turnkey custom wooden houses: Switzerland from about CHF 3,400 per m² (average about CHF 4,200), Germany and Austria up to about €4,500 per m² for custom designs, Finland about €2,500–3,500 per m². Luxury finishes, basements and large glazing add to that. Binding prices come only from the manufacturers.
Can I use my own architect?
Yes. Send your architect’s plans and we build them in 3D so manufacturers can price exactly that design. Or design the house yourself in the Geoniks editor and give the drawing set (PDF and DXF) to your architect.
How long does it take from idea to moving in?
Typically 12–24 months for a custom luxury wooden house: a few months of design and quotes, then permits, factory production of the logs or elements (often 2–4 months) and assembly on site, followed by the interior. Factory production makes the on-site phase much shorter than for masonry.
Which countries do you cover?
Buyers worldwide. Quotes come from manufacturers that deliver to your country; the planning price is shown for 46 countries in the Geoniks Wooden House Price Index.
